Volunteer at Jochipapanete
Volunteering at Jochipapanete is a great way to deepen your own awakening and healing journey and immerse yourself In Shipibo culture. It is an opportunity to assist others on their journey with ayahuasca, which in turn deepens your own relationship with the medicine.
Before applying please consider if you meet the following requirements:
Fluency in both English and Spanish;
Previous experience with ayahuasca;
Strong cross-cultural awareness and comprehension, our volunteers are a bridge between our guests and the Shipibo family. We are a Shipibo owned centre, and volunteers must be able to work in an environment which has a different set of values and principles than they may experience in a Western owned place;
Resilience and adaptability: Our centre is in the middle of the jungle, and the accommodation and food is simple, it is not for everyone, there are bugs, animals and things can break down and stop working at times. If you are called to volunteer with us, you must be committed to living a simple life in the jungle with all that entails.
Minimum 3 month commitment period. The first month is a trial period after which the centre manager will confirm if you can continue for the remaining 2 months.
Some of the roles which volunteers step into include:
Facilitation: Setting up and packing down the Maloka before and after ceremonies, supporting participants during ceremonies, supporting with preparation before ceremonies and integration after ceremonies.
General retreat and dieta operations: being avalable to guests for certain periods of each day to assist with any practical issues they have or just being there to help them process.
Social media and marketing: Volunteers assist us to maintain our social media profiles, and share the word about our retreat centre through different platforms.
Offering workshops, such as breathwork, meditation and other tools that support intergration during retreats and dietas.
Admin support: supporting the centre with admin and organisation, including resource development and business support, responding to enquiries and other general administrative support
Property support: Building, gardening and supporting the family with general property maintenance.
Our volunteers are adaptable able to fit multiple roles.
We take into consideration a balance of male and female volunteers at all times, and only offer places when there is a gap at our centre.
We prioritise people who have previously completed a dieta or retreat with us, so if you are interested in volunteering with us we recommend that you join us for one of these first, also so you can see if our centre is a good fit for you!

While we are growing our centre we ask all volunteers to contribute 250 sol per week.
